Ive long had this idea that if you want to know who a person is, - TopicsExpress

Ive long had this idea that if you want to know who a person is, you dont ask them. At worst, they lie and at the very best, they operate in their own paradigms that they describe themselves through. If you really want to know who they are, you look at the things. Look at the things they carry with them and look at the things they dont. Look at the bits of fuzz that catch a ride on their shoulder. The dust, grit and animal hair that adorns their pant cuffs...or the lack there of. What makes it in the back of the truck for a move and what is tossed or donated? These artifacts of life tell the true story of who we are. Ive been able to find some awesome friends in some unlikely places this way. But, Ive been thinking about what artifacts Im surrounding myself with and have found more and more lately that they are taking digital form. They are editable, deletable, transient...subject to my own paradigm. Is this a good thing? Where will all of this data be in 10 years? Will my true person even be a silhouette in the analysis? To whomever is telling my story when Im gone please take a moment to look at the physical artifacts of my life, Im sure you will find a whole different person there.
