Ive mostly avoided discussing the tragic Israel-Gaza situation - TopicsExpress

Ive mostly avoided discussing the tragic Israel-Gaza situation here, but sometimes I just run out of patience with the arrant anti-Israel hypocrisy and double standards one sees so much of on the web and the streets of Europe. Over at Gizmodo, they did an article about SodaStreams new partnership with Kitchen Aid to produce retro-styled heavy-duty models. Naturally, one of the first commenters advocates boycotting SodaStream for being an Israeli company and touts the anti-Israel BDS movement. Never mind what a successful boycott would mean for the jobs of the companys many Israeli Arab workers, I want to know how many Chinese-made products that commenter has in his home. After all, China has been occupying Tibet since 1950, a whole generation before Israel occupied the West Bank and Gaza. (And unlike Israel, without being threatened first.) You can bet theres not even any _discussion_ of a two-state solution there. In fact, unlike Israel with the West Bank and Gaza, theyve _annexed_ it. Theyve also been shipping in Han Chinese to displace the natives at a rate that makes Israels settler movement look like a hobby. (All in open violation of international law, of course.) The Tibetans keep setting themselves on fire in protest, but somehow the self-righteous anti-Israel crowd never talk about an anti-China BDS movement. How very strange. I wonder why that is. Surely it cant be the lack of Jews to hate in China?
