Ive never been nominated on Facebook and usually when I was nominated on other social media sites, I just ignore them. But this time as to books which have changed my life, its more meaningful because it helps me to recall what books I have read! Ive been called out by Beata Sobierajska to list 10 books which have changed my life. It‘s hard to say that books have changed my life, but its true that some books have great influence on me. Here they are: 1. First of all 《背包十年》 by 小鹏. The translation is Backpacking for a decade. Its after reading this book that I started travelling alone and trying adventurous things like couch-surfing, hitch-hiking and discovering places where there are few visitors. This book tells me life doesnt mean simply having big houses and nice cars (I think many Chinese hope so), instead there are other possibilities. You have to step out of your comfort zone and know whats happening in the rest of the world. 2. The Little Prince by Saint Exupery. Haha same as Beata, I love this book! It shows spirituality, innocence, perseverance, love, friendship and many other things. 3. Who Moved My Cheese by Spencer Johnson. It was a birthday gift by my dad when I was in middle school. At that time I couldnt understand its deep meaning. As I grow older, of course the insight is different. The world is changing fast, you have to change too. 4. “Hillary - A Woman In Charge” by Carl Bernstein & Bob Woodward. Im not that ambitious - to be a politician like Hillary -;) What I learned is that you are the master of your own destiny. 5. 《普京传》 Putin Biography - Unfortunately I dont remember the author. I really adore this guy! 6. “The Shadow Thief by Marc Levy. ”有些人只拥吻影子,于是只拥有幸福的幻影“——莎士比亚 7. 《三重门》by Han Han. I read Han Han a lot when I was in high school. It reflected values and living conditions of Chinese students in examination-oriented education age. I liked his works because what he wrote was what we went through. 8. The great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. I prefer the book to the movie :P The first English novel I read! 9. The relations between middle east and the big powers by Bo Wang. Because Im curious about the world 10. 《突然就走到了西藏》 By Aloys Chen - a famous Chinese actor. He organized a charity event - hike to Tibet and help a group of university students as well as himself to discover themselves. After reading his book, I went to Tibet ;D But whats more important is the answer to the classic philosophical question: Who are you? Either way, I feel really embarrassed doing it, but I would like to see which books influenced/changed lives of the following people: Vanessa Yip, Yao Ding, Zoe Zhu, Tobias C. Beck, Ji Xiu Lo, Binod Dhungana, Yubaraj Poudel, Iris Zhou, Sarala Neupane, Cho Cheng Rules: name 10 books that changed your life, nominate 10 people. Youve got 10 minutes to create your list, so no cheating to make yourself look cooler. (And no Julia, you cant get extra time just because youve read like a billion books already :P) And then, get on with your life. Hopefully, it will be as nostalgic for you as it was for me. Enjoy!
