Ive never really been a big supporter of the idea of core stability, and I think Prof. OSullivan explains why quite nicely. I also believe that there is too much emphasis put on the vulnerability or fragility of the spine unnecessarily, however I do still think that there is a right way to perform gym exercises, for example the deadlift. Rather than thinking about pre-tensing- I prefer to think or it was prepositioning. I like how Kelly Starrett explains setting up. A link to his video can be found in the comments section.
