Ive not been quite healthy for some weeks and the weekend saw me - TopicsExpress

Ive not been quite healthy for some weeks and the weekend saw me feeling somewhat worse than usual. So waking up on Monday morning and realising that there was yet more of a downward trend I decided to stay at home, cover my head and quietly get on with being sick. Unfortunately before I could do that, I had to get two children out of bed, dressed and off to school. For once in my life (if my memory is correct), I made the call to take the boys to school while still dressed in my pyjamas. Right...... good call Julia. Its Jareds duty each morning to open the gate (which I keep closed with a heavy chain and lock - automation be damned) and hes usually successful in getting the dogs to sit / stay while I take the car out. However, on this particular morning, while attempting to leave the premises, Spartacus decided to take a hike and head for the highway. Which had Jared in pursuit with house keys in hand...... Losing my temper, my face no longer pale but a lighter shade of green, I decide to leave Spartacus to his fate and just take the boys to school regardless. As I was about to turn onto the highway Spartacus appeared and so stopped the car, opened the doors and let him (thereby reinforcing his blastedly bad behaviour as a positive thing - he adores driving in the car). At last we get going and eventually I have both boys unloaded and head back home. Only to find on my arrival that I have no house keys! They were still in Jareds pocket :( What to do, what to do????? Even if I was skinny, fit and agile, there was no way I could clamber over my recently installed wall spikes - and certainly not in pjs in broad daylight - and with a face now the colour of grass. So I had to phone the school, explain my predicament and pray that the woman on the other end of the line had done something equally stupid in her life and would be understanding of my plight. Thankfully she was. Special arrangements was made to allow me through the schools security gates and to drive to the front door (literally) in order for her to hand me the keys :) Thank God for kind secretaries! I might add that the day got somewhat worse from there, but hey, that was the bit I wanted to share :)
