To all of my afloat mates be thankful of our MCA in the UK. Imagine not being able to raise a CG station 1 mile from your boat via VHF and telephone despite a 100% genuine concern of the prevention of life at sea only 4 miles from the said CG station. A valid concern turned out to be no more than a very large orange pot marker on the drift easily mistaken as a liferaft. The only vessel to locate the offending object was the Cemlyn Bay purely because of trust in a colleagues judgement and sticking 2 fingers up to a client who had sent their standby boat to look - about 5 miles away from the EP (estimated position) given. It turns out the adrift buoy was within 100m of the EP!! Not bad considering Im ashore at sea level. Well done Dave Baynes and crew. It could of been worse but thankfully wasnt!
