Ive noticed that on many of my songs, the lyrics of the verse, provide the meat (the make you think, and feel a little part), and the lyrics of the chorus are the sugar (the sweet, sing-songie, even corny component). Below are the lyrics to Born to Love You, which definitely is in that category. (Although, I guess the whole things a bit on the light side). This is one of my faves, from All Over the Map, my most recent album. It was written for Val, a few years ago. Born to Love You Maybe youve had your feelings hurt One too many times Maybe your pretty heads been turned By hollow pretty lines Maybe you feel your hearts been held By clumsy, selfish hands Maybe youve been misunderstood I will understand CHORUS I was born to love you Baby, its not too late I was born to love you So why would you want to wait I was born to make you smile And make you feel so good I was born to love you And you know that I would Maybe you feel youve always been Too trusting and too kind Maybe youve wound your heart up tight Too fragile to unwind Maybe youve got defenses up Afraid of where youll land Maybe youve been left all alone I will take your hand Repeat Chorus Maybe you think Im empty talking, Lines like all the rest Maybe youve yet to see this clearly You and Ive been blessed Maybe you want to take it slowly Stop and hesitate When youre ready Ill still be here Make it worth the wait Repeat Chorus
