Ive put a lot of thought into this lately. Im tired of my friendships dying off like flies. It took losing a few good ones to make me realize that I was probably a big part of the problem so I worked to improve myself in a lot of aspects. But even with as many bad habits as Ive given up, I will never make myself a doormat for a friend just to avoid an uncomfortable situation. Surprisingly, thats cost me many more friendships than being an unpleasant person did. Since when did standing up for yourself become a bad thing? If you call yourself my friend yet you lie about me, are rude to me, or act like Im an inconvenience, Im going to simply ask you why. Id hope someone would do the same to me if Ive offended them. But is owning up to shady behavior just too difficult? Is asking for basic respect really that offensive? People would rather lose valuable friendships than just say theyre sorry and get it over with in 10 seconds. I know apologizing to someones face can be awkward, its not supposed to be easy or fun. But it is necessary to maintain healthy relationships, isnt it worth it? I hope it is for friends I make in the future or else I dont see myself being very popular.đŸ˜’
