Ive reached a new level of geekdom. One of the CDs I had on the trip out was Grampa Rods copy of Olivia Newton Johns greatest hits vol. 1. Please Mr., Please is a song, in part, about listening to a jukebox in a bar. The first line of the chorus is Please Mr. please, dont play B17. It struck me as odd that you would have a selection B17, when most jukeboxes from the 1950s onward used numbers 0 thru 9, and a letter, corresponding to each selection. Then it hit me, when jukebox manufacturers were transitioning from 78s to 45s, Wurlitzer had a model that could play both which used a selection system that employed 4 letter buttons (A thru D), and 26 number buttons. They kept this selection system for all their subsequent 45 only models until they graduated from 100 selections to 200 selections. So the jukebox in Olivia Newton-Johns Please Mr., Please is a mid to later 50s 100 selection Wurlitzer. I dare someone to out geek me. youtube/watch?v=3007OXu2dNc
