Ive really put alot of thought in if I should or should not post about this but Im so upset about it I feel the need to share so others might be aware about what happened to Kortnie Lee before Addison and after. Kortnie had preeclampsia when she was pregnant with Ella and we knew it would most likely return with a 2nd pregnancy and indeed it did like an unstoppable freight train. The week prior to her being life flighted to Mercy she called her ob and told him her concerns. She was so swollen, exhausted, blood pressure high, she knew what was happening and that it was much sooner than we expected. Her concerns were dismissed by her ob and she was told it was normal, he made her feel like an idiot. One week later she was hospitalized, life flighted in grave danger and Addison was born 9 weeks premature. I also had preeclampsia when I was pregnant with Kortnie. We knew it couldnt be corrected but feel if he would have listened to her pleas it might have made a difference and maybe she could have been put on bed rest, medication, etc. and might not have turned into such a life threatening situation for both the girls. After Kortnie was released from Mercy and returned home she went for her follow up ob appointment here in Ponca and they again made a mistake by prescribing Kortnie a medication that could have been very harmful to Addison through her breast milk and as we all know Addison had enough on her plate as she was fighting to survive. However, today was the last straw for me. I took Kortnie to the doctor last evening for a bad case of mastitis. She was placed on an antibiotic and another medication for her breast milk to flow better and avoid clogged ducts. When we went to pick up the prescriptions today the pharmacy gave us a stern warning that the medicine prescribed would have a horrific counter action with another one of Kortnies daily longtime prescribed medications. If it had not been for the wonderful pharmacist and staff at Bintz Pharmacy I truly believe we could be dealing with a tragic situation right now. This same pharmacy also caught the other mistake that was made. The pharmacy faxed the warning to the doctor and the doctor did call Kortnie this afternoon apologizing and was very relieved when he found out she had not taken the medication. I guess my advice to you all is to do your home work and ask other moms about their ob experiences. This could easily happen to you or someone you love. Love, Nana
