Ive said for years that people are just waiting for someone to plant a flag in the sand to rally around. Looking for the slightest bit of leadership to come out of their shells and be a part of Community. Any community where people can feel connected. This is the perfect example of that. I lived in NYC for 25 years and would see this from time to time. Not this example specifically.... and I saw on many occasions where someone would be hurt and people would rush to the aid of others. I witnessed it during blizzards, blackouts, parades, celebrations and especially around 9/11. People are just waiting to connect with others around them. They will pounce on the opportunity if presented. We long for connection with others. What would it look like if we all decided to reach out to others in the little moments of life and welcomed others into our day to day on even the simplest of events. Beyond the nod of recognition in the check out line, a good morning, the proverbial Hi, how are you?. What it we would be totally authentic and actually honestly respond... and invoke a response back? I do it all the time and the results are always fun and sometimes very interesting. Ive had so many interesting experiences with cashiers, service people and the like where the wall of disconnection comes tumbling down. I do it for the fun. Anyone else do this? Or is it just me? I know that there are others out there like me. If you do... let me know... would love to hear from you (and break down the wall of those that are reading my posts... and dont often comment) - If you have read this far... and like this... just put ;-) in the comments below. Show me the love... ;-) xoxox Skip
