Ive seen this article being passed around a lot on Facebook. My thoughts: Can you actually leave the church? That is, if the church is people and the bride of Christ, can you actually leave it? Whatever happened to perseverance? There are many times Dan and I have wanted to be done with church (and for better reasons that most I hear), yet there is this pull inside of me that wont let me let go of Gods people. Why dont other people have that pull? Church is not about you. It is about God. I see too many people looking around and not up. So many of our brothers and sisters are being persecuted around the world and will do everything they can to meet together, and here we are walking away because of small, inconsequential stuff or selfishness. Now, I know there are some of you who have been hurt and need space. Ive been there multiple times and been hurt so deeply I didnt know if I could go back. But one thing I decided each time: I will be the person that God has called me to be. I will be different. And I will not give up. So if you are done, ask yourself why? Are you hurt? Then go to Jesus the healer and allow him to take the bullet out. You can only heal after the bullet has been taken out, not by hiding it. Are you tired? Soldiers on the front lines will grow weary and sometimes need time back at camp. But you cant stay at the camp. Is there a heart issue (anger, bitterness, selfishness)? Those can only be healed by repentance and a choice to change. If you are a Christian, you cant be done with the church because you are the church. billmuehlenberg/2014/12/26/on-leaving-church/
