Ive thought about this for a good while now and Ive decided to ignore the NFL this year. We all know that Ray Rice was suspended for 2 games for beating his fiancee. We also know that if he had smoked a joint,it would have been 4 games. It matters that the NFL thinks taking a toke is worse than beating a woman. It matters that this sport prefers to overlook the abhorrent behavior of its players and minimize their violations of social mores and plain decency just because they can run fast or throw a ball or catch a thrown ball or block a big man. Ray Rice is repugnant -- just another thug in uniform. And the NFL sets a horrible example with their kid glove treatment. I deserve better. And women deserve a hell of a lot better. And kids and fans who worship these self-important privileged morons deserve better. There are many athletes who work hard and sacrifice to be the best they can be and I respect that. But there is no job on earth that earns a man the right to batter a woman. Our heroes need to be heroic. Everyone talks so much about wanting respect but everyone forgets that they need to earn it. Ray Rice doesnt get it. Neither does the NFL. So dont tell me scores. Dont ask me to make picks or play in your fantasy league. When the NFL makes some changes, I will consider watching again. Until then, I say ENOUGH!
