Ive waited a day to consume more information, but in regard to David Moyes and Manchester United, I cant help but think that one of the most distinctive features of Man United of the last 20 years, (perhaps along with Arsenal) was that they were a shining beacon of an example to the rest of football of what can happen if you show faith in your appointments. And to some degree theyve been a bit smug about that over the years. Theyre now just another panic club, with a legacy consigned to an alternative universe and the I wonder if? The greatest football manager of ALL TIME saw something in Moyes, but businessmen, shareholders and sponsors apparently know better than Sir Alex Ferguson. The very same people who signed off on Moyes. If it was THAT bad an appointment, then surely some of them should be shown the door? And what of the players? More or less the same players who won the league by ELEVEN points a year ago. Should they not burden a large part of the blame? I know its the age old story that you cant sack a team but you CAN sack a manager. But still. I dont care too much, Im not a Man Utd fan, but I am a fan of loyalty. A quality that is oh so rare in football. David Moyes was invited to do a job that many experts deemed him worthy of, to the tune of a six year contract no less. Who are the fools? Who is the victim? And for the sake of loyalty, professionalism, patience and a desire to have this great sport run by footballing people and not money-men and bloody boardrooms, I feel for Moyes. As a professional, he deserved so much better than the whimsical dismissal he was given. Hope he cleans them out for millions. But anyway, as a Liverpool fan, I have my eyes on so etching else for now.
