I’m up and at work early this morning, analysing the finer points of last night’s budget and the impact for our clients. To clarify one point, many people are talking about the fact that younger people (born after 1 Jan 1966) cannot retire until age 70. In fact, you can retire at any age once you accumulate sufficient income/investments to do so. You will not, however, be eligible for an Age Pension until after age 70. Could raising the pension age, make people more interested in building their wealth and planning for their future? What are your thoughts?
