I’ve been exposed to a fair amount of hypocritical judgment this past year from people who insist I’m being somehow selfish, reckless, or capricious by making choices different from the ones they assume theyd make given similar circumstances. The deeper philosophical implications aside (we’re ALL on our own journey...not so sure I agree that my “obligations” to anyone are in any way linked to my mortality…), I will simply say that y’all need to check your own selves before casting stones my way, or in any direction whatsoever. Deal with yourself first. Some (nay, actually ALL) of my harshest critics have been people who also smoke heavily and/or drink heavily and/or fail to exercise regularly and/or eat a typical disgusting, cancer-causing American diet and/or ignore the healthy and natural tools available to us as stress relievers. Etc. Etcetera to the moon and back, the hypocrisy is astounding. If you’re smoking a cigarette while accusing me of risking leaving my children without a mother, please for the love of god look in the mirror.
