I’ve been trying for a while and would like to sell this car, it - TopicsExpress

I’ve been trying for a while and would like to sell this car, it is a great motor and if I had the space I’d keep it but to be honest, it is rather getting in the way a bit now. Why am I selling? Bought a pickup to move tools, materials and rubbish around whilst renovating a new house, don’t quite have the space for two large vehicles. History - Yes, it is 19 years old and could have its own driving licence but it has full service history and has been well looked after. In my ownership I’ve fixed all the little niggles like a broken ABS sensor and even the sensor for the windscreen washer reservoir. It has an aluminium chassis and body panels so it does not, and never will, suffer the usual tin worm that ravages older motors. Ok, the engine has 63k miles but some of the service stamps are Oxford and I’ve used the car abroad a lot so that isn’t 63k of local miles (it was a Jersey car when I bought it at 58k and has obviously spent a lot of time in the UK). If you look in the UK you will see examples of these motors with 200k+ miles on them – they’re pretty tough and under stressed units. The cam belts (yes, belts, it is a V8 after all) were changed 3 years ago at about 58k miles along with the water pump so you have no worries there. All of the brake pads and discs were changed last year and have done less than 2k miles since. Interior - the boot is huge, whilst also home to a proper spare wheel with a decent tyre on it, the usual scissor jack and associated gubbins along with a 6 CD changer. Inside there is plenty of leg room for passengers in the back, they even have their own side window blinds and there is an electronic privacy blind for the whole rear window (also great for putting up when you have an annoying **** driving up your backside with lights on full beam). In the front you have fully electrically adjustable seats, an electronically adjustable steering wheel, dual zone climate control (nice and chilly), a tape cassette player (definitely the best bit – you can dust off “Now That’s What I Call Music!” and re-live your favourite tunes but don’t forget that 6 CD changer in the boot as well), individual arm rests for driver and passenger and genuinely comfortable leather seats. There’s even an electronic sunroof if you fancy letting a ray of sunshine into your life. There are quite a few cubby holes and pockets for your sunglasses, sandwiches, parking tickets etc. No cup holder though, this car was made in the day when such things were unheard of and people would actually stop to have a picnic at the side of the M3. You even have cruise control and an on board computer with the usual trip information to keep you entertained on those long journeys. Exterior – it’s white, has 4 wheels and a few Audi badges. Price – I’ve had this up at £1,500 which I think is fair, but as I said above – I do want to sell the car so am open to offers. Parkers give a guide of about £1k for a motor with 180,000 miles on it. I valued this about a year ago when Parkers were still offering mileage and options adjusted values and it came out at £2k from an unadjusted value of £1,200. Cars of similar age, but very varying condition and mileage on eBay seem to be up for anything from £600 to £2.5k. Driving – the A8 is Audi’s flagship motor, this model was ground breaking when it was released in 1994 and the driving experience is still excellent today. Having a 4.2 V8 under your right boot means you can get execute nice smooth overtakes and get yourself in licence losing territory within a few seconds. Driving on motorways is a dream, due to the amount of sound insulation you barely realise you’re doing 70mph, and as it is (just) under 5m long and 1.85m tall you won’t get royally screwed by Condor taking it away, just the normal amount of piracy will occur. Don’t forget with that huge boot you can bring back a case of wine (or two). Please comment or PM if you want to view the car. So long as you have insurance and a driving licence you can take it for a drive.
