J.P. ROBERTS AND HOT STUFF PIZZA INK PACT FOR 2014 RACE SEASON Former Jackson County Champion to Seek AMRA Title GALLIPOLIS, OHIO- Octane Modified driver John Paul “J.P.” Roberts, and JP Motorsports, of Gallipolis, Ohio and Hot Stuff Pizza based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota have joined forces for the 2014 racing season. As part of the pact, Roberts will run for the American Motor Racing Association (AMRA) championship in 2014. Roberts has been one of the mainstays of the AMRA over the past 11 years and at age 39 has posted 16 career feature wins. Eight times he has been in the top ten in AMRA points, and he has never been out of the top 25. He was 23rd this past 2013 race season, but “did not chase points.” Roberts, however, is noted for his love of racing, his competitive nature, and the technical side of the sport as well as his driving skills. Roberts came into his own in 2007, then backed up his numbers with a great 2008 racing season, winning the Jackson County Speedway Championship both years. In 2008 he won seven features and had a bounty put on him after winning four races in a row. “This is a great opportunity for our race team,” said Roberts. “We are proud to have a relationship with Hot Stuff pizza and the folks at Orion Foods. Having Hot Stuff come aboard as a major sponsor gives a tremendous boost to our race team.” “I am excited,” said Tom Bushey, Franchise Business Consultant at Hot Stuff Foods. “I think this is a win-win for all of us. It gives us product brand recognition in the area and will expand our customer awareness. At first, I didn’t know much about the AMRA or dirt racing in the region, but in my research of the organization and area racing I was impressed. I am truly excited about this deal and am ready to come out running.” The American Motor Racing Association sanctions racing at eleven dirt tracks in Ohio and West Virginia, and has sanctioned races in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Maryland. The organization had nearly 400 driver memberships last season. “We are looking for a good season from J.P.” added Bushey. “We wish him luck this year and if all goes well we are looking forward to coming back next year.” Locally, Steve Coughenour of City Ice and Fuel, helped accommodate the bond between Roberts and Hot Stuff. Coughernour, is the buyer for the chain and has been associated with Hot Stuff Pizza products for the past 18 years. City Ice and Fuel operates seven stores in the region at Pomeroy, Hamden, Chauncey, Guysville, Albany, and Seaman, Ohio; and Charleston, West Virginia. “I have known J.P. for a long time and I am excited for him for the 2014 race season!” said Coughenour. “We, along with our Hotstuff Pizza locations are elated to partner up with JP Motorsports and the #9 dirt track car.” “Having been around J.P., I know the expense of having a dirt track race car,” noted Coughenour. “We approached a few vendors at the stores and immediately Hot Stuff expressed interest. I am happy for J.P. and I am happy with our longstanding relationship with the Hot Stuff brand.” 2013 was a good year for Roberts the maker of Killer Bee Bodies and the proprietor of Paul’s Auto Accessories near Gallipolis, Ohio. Roberts doesn’t like keeping stats. “I race one race at a time and I am only as good as my last race.” Roberts picked up two wins in 2013 and had 11 second place finishes. He was fast and exciting wherever he ran. “The last two years, I quit worrying about points,” said Roberts. “I just set out to win and have fun. This year we will run for the championship.” Hot Stuff Pizza®, a renowned brand of Orion Food Systems®, has delighted pizza lovers for over 25 years.
