JACKSONVILLE -- Jury selection begins today in the retrial of a Brevard County man accused of shooting and killing a teenager over loud music. In February, Michael Dunn was convicted of three counts of attempted first-degree murder for shooting into a fleeing SUV at a Jacksonville convenience store. But the Duval County jurors deadlocked on a first-degree murder charge. He now faces the murder charge in the second trial. Dunn, a 47-year-old software developer, testified he thought he saw 17-year-old Jordan Davis point a shotgun at him as they argued over loud music coming from the vehicle in which Davis was a passenger. He testified he feared for his life as he reached for his own pistol, firing nearly a dozen rounds into the SUV as it sped off that November 2012 night. Dunns new attorney has asked for a change of venue, arguing the previous media coverage makes it impossible for her client to get a fair trial in Jacksonville. The judge in the case said he will make a decision on the motion during jury selection. If finding a jury in Duval County proves impossible, the trial could be delayed for several months.
