JAMES FOLEY: Civilians of the liberated Syrian town of Kafr Nabl paid tribute to the slain American journalist James Foley on August 20. In the picture posted to Facebook, the group held a banner saying Foley’s will to “expose” Assad and the Islamic State “pushed him” to “sacrifice his blood” after video emerged described as showing an Islamic State militant beheading the American journalist. The Kafr Nabl civilians added that humanity was “proud” of Foley, who was widely recognized for covering the Syrian conflict. Foley’s mother Diane said her son had given his life “trying to expose the world to the suffering of the Syrian people”. James Foley was an independent American journalist on assignment for GlobalPost when he went missing in Syria in 2012. This image is embeddable: لافتات كفرنبل المحتلة via Facebook
