JCC ANNOUNCES FRESH PROTEST CALENDAR SRINAGAR: Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), an amalgam of several employees unions Friday announced a fresh protest calendar by calling Secretariat ghero on July-8 and lock-out of government offices on the same day across the state. The leaders of JCC held a meeting on Thursday, in which they decide that they would hold protest demonstrations on July-8 outside the Civil Secretariat Srinagar. However, they announced fresh protest calendar at a press conference here on Friday. While as, in a significant development, the Civil Secretariat Non-Gazetted Employees Union extended its support to the JCC programme. The Civil Secretariat Non- Gazetted Employees Union had not participated in the previous protest programmes of JCC. However, its leaders said they would give full support to JCC and will hold protest demonstration inside the premises of Civil Secretariat on July-8. “On July-8, employees will hold protest outside Civil Secretariat while as non- gazetted employees of Civil Secretariat will hold inside its premises. The employees of Jammu will hold protest outside office of Divisional Commissioner Jammu and will also submit memorandum to him,” the JCC leaders said at a press conference here. They said employees of Leh and Kargil would hold protest outside District Development Commissioners of their respective districts.Those who participated in the press conference included senior JCC leaders, Abdul Qayoom Wani, Muntizer Mohideen, Gafoor Ahmad Dar. The JCC leaders said there would be complete shutdown of government offices across the Valley on this date.The government employees are demanding enhancement of retirement age from 58 to 60 years, removal of pay anomalies and regularization of daily wagers. Earlier, the employees Rajbhavan chalo was foiled on June-22. Employees said they had negotiated with the government and gave them time which they asked for. “Even agreements were signed between the government and employees’ leadership but so far they backtracked from their commitments,” the JCC leaders claimed.
