JDH Contracting, Inc. in Plainfield, IN, is hiring for a Director of Safety! Title: Safety Director Reports To: President/CEO Org Chart Level: Director Direct Reports: Safety Coordinator EXPERIENCE: Experience leading an organizational safety program required. 10+ years of experience in a construction industry with progressive increases in responsibility preferred. Experience with Wireless or Telecommunication industry safety standards preferred. JOB SUMMARY: • Overall responsibility for Health and Safety Program at JDH Contracting ensuring compliance with all applicable local, State and Federal regulations across multiple locations developing a culture focused on a commitment to zero incidents. • Develop a positive and proactive relationship with field staff with an emphasis on open communication regarding issues, near-misses and ideas for improvement. • Direct company Health and Safety compliance programs and activities, including related resources and training. • Oversee and participate in field safety audits and other related activities as needed. • Liaise with industry, company, state and federal officials on compliance matters. • Mentor direct reports, management personnel and hourly employees with respect to safety. • Audit and advise management of compliance issues, recommend solutions and assure issues are resolved in a timely fashion. • Facilitate safety training to ensure both relevance of content and compliance with regulation. • Review all incident reports and follow up as required. • Develop a working relationship with outside regulatory agencies. • Review existing and proposed health, safety and worker’s compensation regulations and determine their applicability. Advise management with respect to appropriate actions. • Review procedures and inspect office and project locations to ensure safe work conditions. • Develop and implement standard procedures and reports. • When requested, act as a resource to help customers solve health and safety issues. • Monitor contractors with respect to both their safety systems and compliance. • Manage all OSHA training records and requirements. • Review and approve communications and documentation. • Negotiate/contest OSHA citations where deemed appropriate. • Maintain professional affiliations and pursue applicable certifications as directed. • Represent company with safety organizations. • Develop and deliver safety presentations to outside organizations as appropriate.
