JERSEY CITY PAC ISSUES WARNING TO VOTERS IN DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY FOR DISTRICT 3 FREEHOLDER JCPAC is urging Jersey City voters to NOT vote for Gerard Balmir Jr in the Democratic Primary for District 3 Freeholder, and research the other candidates in the race (Esmeralda Trinidad, Jeffrey Dublin, and Arnold Williams). JCPAC offers three basic reasons voters should not vote for Mr. Balmir: 1. Mr. Balmir fought against the interests and safety of Jersey City residents by strongly supporting the Spectra Gas Pipeline, which mostly runs through District 3. It should be noted that Mayor Steven Fulop, who has endorsed Mr. Balmir, claimed to be strongly against the pipeline, but also took campaign donations from a lobbying firm representing Spectra. In addition, Mr. Balmir is unable to specify how many jobs the project produced for Jersey City, but has said he will release the numbers a few days before election day. JCPAC finds that to be disingenuous politics, something then-Councilman Fulop campaigned against. 2. Mr. Balmir advocated for the full Port Authority toll hike when it was originally proposed. Many Jersey City residents, especially low-income residents of District 3, depend on the PATH train to get to work. Mr. Balmirs support of the toll hike hurts the residents he wishes to represent the most. 3. Mr. Balmir has consistently lied about how long he has been a resident of Jersey City. Time after time he has claimed to be a resident for three years, but in fact didnt move to Jersey City until January 2012. If he is lying about how long hes been a resident, what else does Mr. Balmir have to hide?
