JESUS APPOINTED TWELVE APOSTLES (Mk 3:13-19) Jesus went up the mountain and summoned those whom He wanted and they came to Him. He appointed twelve whom He also named apostles that they might be with Him and He might send them forth to preach and to have authority to drive out demons: He appointed the twelve: Simon, whom He named Peter; James, son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James, whom He named Boanerges, that is, sons of thunder; Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James the son of Alpheus; Thaddeus, Simon the Cananean, and Judas Iscariot who betrayed Him. Jesus appointed them, they were not perfect. They too have their own traits and weaknesses. Though they tried hard to follow Jesus and be good, yet in times of crisis they too wavered. Peter denied Jesus three times but with Gods grace and mercy was forgiven and became the first Pope. Thomas is also known us the doubting Thomas, believe only what he see. And each one of them has their own character and traits. And like any one of us, Our true character is revealed in times of crisis and in difficulties. And only Jesus can truly accept and understand us without question or condition. He continue to give us all the chances in life to change our ways for He wants to bring out only the best in us. Even difficult people change if we accept and allow them to grow and learn on their own. We dont demand anything from them but to only accept and understand them is the best we can do. It is not our task to change them. Jesus is the first one to understand and Jesus wants us to do the same. Let us give others the chance to be themselves, trusting that God knows what is best for them, how and when to change them is Gods primary concern. We should understand that all of these are part of Gods plan for us. If we were born this way, it is because we have been prepared for such, ever since the beginning of time. We think that Judas was a traitor, but then only God knows why it should happen and why Judas? Each one of us are sent for a particular mission and as long as this mission is not yet accomplished, God will provide us everything we need in order for us to accomplish our mission in life. Nothing will harm us for God will send His angels to guide and protect us. And when our mission is done, only God knows when and how? And so we should lift up everything to God, trusting that only He know what is best for us. And as we mature in age, we should realize that like the apostles we are called to holiness and perfection. And so let us never give up for even the most difficult people in our lives can change with Gods grace and in His perfect time.
