JEWS ARE NOT A RACE!!!!AND ISRAEL IS NOT A PIECE OF LAND!!!! Jews are not a race. Despite what you may have heard to the contrary, They have many converts. When those converts have children, they are just as Jewish as any other Jew. If its the birth to a Jewish mother that confuses you, its not the mothers *blood* that makes the child Jewish. It is the eternal Covenant between God and His people, Israel that passes from mother to child. The child becomes a part of that covenant upon birth to a Jewish mother and is bound by Jewish law. The only other way to become a Jew and accept the binding contract (covenant) between God and Israel is conversion. Compare it to a nationality. If one is born in the U.S., one is American. Anyone else who wants to be an American must apply, complete certain requirements, and take an oath to support our country. We Americans are comprised of MANY races, but we are ONE people! We Jews are comprised of MANY races, but we are ONE people -- the people Israel. The word Israel means to wrestle with God. We are the people who wrestle with God. ......................... ................................................................ NO, Jewish identity has never EVER been defined by race. The false notion of Jews as a race is antisemtitic and was created to insult Jews and delegitimize the Jewish law that is the sole determinant of Jewish identity. The Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered more than 60 years ago in seaside caves near an ancient settlement called Qumran. The conventional wisdom is that a breakaway Jewish sect called the Essenes—thought to have occupied Qumran during the first centuries B.C. and A.D.—wrote all the parchment and papyrus scrolls.
