Her hemoglin has always came back within range but do to the results of a sleep study her doc checked iron storage ( ferritin). Of course her docs first reaction is it must be a lack of iron in diet and put her on iron supplement. We use the homeblended handbook for the skeleton of her meals. I was using beans instead of meat, could this have caused a lack in iron?..I am now giving her hot cereal with iron as well as hamburger meat. I have always done oats baby brown rice cereal milk yogurt cocunut oil flaxs wheat germ and a wide variety of fruits and vegies...apples bananas berries peaches plums melon kale spinach brocoli squash carrots peppers sweet potatoes. She is on a 1500 -1600 cal diet gets about 14-16oz of food 3xdaily and plenty of water. My gut is telling me its not from diet, but maybe from the lack of red meat? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated:)"
