JOB POSTING Position Title Research/Academic Coordinator Salary Grade $35,000- $45,000 depending on experience and qualifications Unit Research/Academic Location Huntsville Category Hours 1 year contract with renew option 30 to 40 hours per week Competition Closing Date Aug 30th, 2013 RESPONSIBILITIES: •Create various research proposals; •Preparation of grants, ethics submissions, and workshops related to research development; •Create Requests for Proposals, possible government grant applications (NSERC, CIHR, SSHRC, FedNor, HRDSC); •Liaise with clinicians and assist with research methodology; •Assist in the search for future grant monies, and take the lead on the applications for such; •Participate in the gathering of data, compilation, and presentation necessary for various special reports or projects, as requested; •Initiate or participate in special projects; •Help coordinate Specialty Clinics •Coordinate Academic activities (Grand Rounds and other learning activities for CME credit); •Perform other duties as assigned; •Use multiple office software applications including word processing, database management, spreadsheets, graphics and presentation software, email, and internet •Interpret and apply organizational policies and workplace rules as appropriate; •Act as a role-model of the organization’s values in daily work activities; •Liaise with Academic and Research section of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine QUALIFICATIONS: Education: •Candidates will have graduated from an accredited college or university with a relevant diploma, undergraduate or graduate degree (ie: Honors Bachelor of Arts or Science, Masters of Arts or Science), or equivalent workplace experience Experience: •Previous experience in an academic research environment is required •Previous experience in writing research proposals •Previous experience in preparing Research Grant Proposals and ethics submissions Ability to: •Analyze and problem solve issues •Effective decision-making processes •Negotiate effectively using conflict resolution skills •Provide effective feedback •Work effectively under time pressures •Work within established organizational practices, protocols and policies •Travel if required •Work independently and collaboratively as part of a team Resumes may be sent by mail or email to: Sue Featherston 100 Frank Miller Dr. Huntsville, Ont P1H 1Z1 Fax (705) 789-2864 [email protected]
