JOB SUCCESS STORY My Heroe- MBA Truck Driver Sir David called to enquire about my services and he emailed me his CV, when I viewed his CV I was shocked to see that he was a former Director and now he was a Truck Driver with an MBA, Zimbabwe should be the only country where you find a Truck Driver with an MBA. I then edited his CV and produced a world class top CV, after a few weeks Sir David was on his way to Zambia and he wanted me to interview coach him and I agreed. Sir David also enquired whether a truck could park in my road and I told him it could, I love Trucks and when I heard the sound of an International Truck in my road I ran out to meet this greet man. Sir David is a 55 year old man, it’s very hard to find a job in Zimbabwe once you are above 50, most employers prefer to employ younger professionals but when I met Sir David I saw a very young looking fit energetic man with a great physical look than most of us young men. When we started our interview coaching we discussed about his life and career and he told me that he had invested and acquired 4 properties but his brother had passed away and he was looking after 7 of his late brothers children at one of his houses and he also had children at South African Universities and that’s why he became a Truck Driver. Sir David told me that as an international Truck Driver he earned $1400 salary plus trip bonuses and this helped him to for fill his dream of educating his children at the best Universities in South Africa. Sir David also impressed me he had an apple iPad and whilst I coached him he took down or the answers with his iPad. After coaching Sir David I decided to catch a lift in a Gonyeti to Westgate Mall for a joy ride and I really enjoyed watching an MBA Truck Driver changing gears meticulously. I have coached over 200 people and he was the first client of mine to use an iPad and I felt that this man really didn’t deserve to be a Truck Driver. After coaching him Sir David was impressed and he paid me 20 dollars instead of the 10 dollar coaching fee. Everytime I coach a person I believe that God wouldn’t had done it for a purpose and after a couple of months Sir David called me and told me that he got a job in Zambia and I asked him how and he told me an amazing story. The truck company Sir David was working for had a big contract with a leading Zambian Trucking Company and each time Sir David would visit this company the IT Manager used to update his iPad for free and the IT Manager happened to be the son of the owner and they would discuss with Sir David and over the years they had built a good friendship and Sir David used to give him lots of advice. God then provided a job opportunity for Sir David when a Logistics & Transport Manager post became vacant at this company the IT Manger asked David to apply and he applied, got interviewed and got the job. Sir David has also encouraged me to get a Class 2 driving licence so that I can also have a career plan B in life and I believe that this story will also encourage other middle aged guys sitting at home.
