The successful candidate will be a key member of the DA’s Provincial Operational Team and will be leading the operations within the relevant communities to maximize the DA’s vote in the province. The successful candidate will report directly to the Provincial Director and Provincial Chair with an indirect reporting line to the Executive Director of Provinces and Voter Relationship Management. A Community Operations Manager must be able to establish and sustain political activity designed to create a permanent presence in the identified communities. The ideal candidate must be able to: •Provide effective management to all structures within his/her relevant communities, •Work in a diverse political environment in order to achieve the party’s strategic objectives, •Mentor structures to drive a culture of excellent performance and accountability, •Manage, implement and maintain systems and operational business plans, •Manage Elections, By-Elections and all campaigns within his/her relevant communities. Prospective applicants should meet the following requirements: •A commitment to the principles, policies and programme of action of the DA; •A detailed understanding of the DA’s vision of an Open, Opportunity Society for All; •Proven leadership skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within the Party; •The preferred candidate must be completely outcomes orientated and not simply task orientated; •Ability to build trust and relationships within a community; •Excellent communication and writing skills; •Excellent organizational abilities; •Proven record of initiative, problem solving, and the ability to recognize and implement improvements to systems; •The ability to apply sound political judgment and the ability to identify key issues relevant to communities; •Experience in project and financial management preferable; •Excellent administrative skills and attention to detail; •Proficiency in more than one language; •Computer literacy, particularly MS Office Suite; •An ability to work effectively and energetically around a demanding work schedule; •Willing to work long and irregular hours; •Willingness to travel with own vehicle (The successful applicant MUST be in possession of a valid driver’s license).
