Your Mission At Proximity Designs, the most important measure of our success is not the revenue that we earn, but the social impact that our products and services have on entrepreneurial households in rural Myanmar. Every year, our Knowledge and Social Impact team carries out comprehensive impact assessments, interviewing thousands of customers to learn about their lives, incomes and aspirations. As a research associate, your main task will be to travel to villages all over rural Myanmar, gather, and analyze data to measure our social impact and make informed changes to our products and services. With over a decade’s experience in rural Myanmar, Proximity Designs has generated $320 million in increased income for vulnerable families in rural Myanmar through the sale of income-boosting irrigation and solar energy products. As a key member of our Knowledge and Social Impact team, you will play a central role in carrying our thorough assessments to drive our work forward. About the Knowledge and Social Impact Team Accountability and accuracy are some of our central values at Proximity, and our Knowledge and Impact Team is in charge of ‘keeping us real.’ They carry out annual impact assessments for each of our four business units, measuring our reach and suggesting changes that need to be made in the future. Additionally, the seven-person team carries out relevant market research on areas such as rural mobile usage that helps us develop future products and services. This is one-of-a-kind opportunity to be at the heart of a growing social enterprise working to impact thousands of households across rural Myanmar. What You Will Do - Be involved in every aspect of upcoming research projects, from preparation to enumeration to analysis and reporting - Participate in research projects including but not limited to socio-economic impact assessments, market research, policy research, and design research - Liaise with our different business units to determine appropriate methods and questions for qualitative and quantitative research - Conduct in-depth and group interviews with Proximity customers all over rural Myanmar - Manager and update socio-economic and customer data in a timely manner Is This You - Enthusiastic about the prospect of traveling throughout Myanmar and riding a motorbike on the banks of the Ayeyarwaddy River - Enjoy learning about the experiences and challenges facing households all over the country - Outstanding interpersonal skills.
