**JOE LONGTHORNE THE NEW ALEXANDRA THEATRE BIRMINGHAM 22nd JAN** . A few words on Joe’s opening 2015 show last night and, as every one of you will know, the first concert from Joe since he underwent 12 hour extensive surgery for mouth cancer on 2nd July last year. It’s been a long wait but last night Joe raised the roof for over 90 minutes with a blazing, masterful and very emotional performance accompanied by Stretch and the band. After the interval lights went down and the auditorium tingled with excitement and anticipation as the band struck up, after a few moments Joe made his entrance to massive, extensive cheers, applause and standing ovation from everyone there. Joe, visibly moved and beaming with sheer delight and happiness at being back on stage, picked up the mic, the opening number “Where or When” the words echoing out across his adoring audience “It seems we’ve stood and talked like this once before”…..yes we had, nearly 7 months ago at Joe’s last concert at Billingham, a few days before Joe entered hospital. It’s been a long and at times very tough journey for Joe, as he has spoken about in interviews recently, last night Joe’s journey bought him back to his spiritual home, the stage...Joe’s stage... the master has indeed returned! Last night’s first few minutes on stage left everyone in complete awe with the power of his performance. Joe is unmistakable back, like he’s never been away, and the Golden, Velvet rich vocal chords are in true vintage form. Joe performed a great set list and premiered two brand new songs from his forthcoming album, two classic songs “The Gypsy” and “Make the world a little Younger”. The show finished just before 10pm, Mr Joe Longthorne MBE is BACK !!! (These words from joelongthornembe.co.uk)
