The Organisation started about four years ago and ever since its inception, it has recorded series of achievements, especially by creating avenue for skills and expertise acquisition for African youths across the world through the socio media. In furtherance of its aim of promoting Educational Democracy in Africa, the Organisation recently launched a Campaign in support of quality Education for prisoners. This campaign was flagged off in Lagos on Thursday 18th September, 2014 through a visit to Ikoyi Prison by the Rescue Team of the Organisation led by the National President Mr Adewopo Oluwafemi Festus. During the visit, the Rescue Team conducted a comprehensive research through series of interview with the Deputy Comptroller of Prison in charge of Ikoyi Prison, Mr B.U Aliyu, some other top ranking officers of the Nigerian Prison Service and some inmates as well. The Research among other things revealed that giving quality Education to prisoners is not something unconstitutional. As a matter of fact, there is a prison school currently in operation in Ikoyi Prison and few other prisons in Lagos State. In an interview with the Principal of the Prison School, he expressed his gratitude to the National President of the Organisation for bringing up such an initiative. He also appreciated the NGO’s who has been supporting Ikoyi prison School since its inception. He however call on the society to kindly help in promoting the good course for which the school is established by providing them with needed facilities. While touring the different section of the school, the Organisation discovered that there is a computer room where they had just two functioning computers, also there is a library which needed to be more equipped. The Organisation was also able to observe the inmates who were writing GCE Examination during the period. Having seen all these, the National President lauded the effort of the Nigerian Government in the area of providing Education for prisoners, He therefore urge the government to extend this good gesture to other states of the Federation as it was discovered that apart from Lagos state, very few states has anything called prison school. He also urged the Society, NGOs, Youth Organisations, Pressure Group and every well-wishers to join this campaign, as prisoners of today can still become very useful to the society tomorrow, only if we give them necessary training. He contended that Prison should not be a place where potentials are killed, prison should not be a place where destinies are destroyed. He also expressed his optimism that if Prisoners are properly educated in prison, they would not return to crime when they are eventually discharged.
