JONATHAN 2015: POLITICAL LIABILITY OR ASSET? (3) BY ABBATI BAKO,psc First, the Estonian definition of politics (authoritative allocation of values) has been acknowledged world wide. As I have said several times that politics has competing values, interest and ambition; the issue of protecting and considering ones values are the most important in political democratic leadership in any nation around the world. As a citizen of a nation, its paramount for the leaders to observe and protect your fundamental right, your dignity as a human being, the family, the right to religion (believe), the environment and the right to security and needs. Also the right to education, health care and general welfare. Second, the issue of your interest; be it economy, the allocation of land, low bank interest rate (Chinas bank loan interest rate is between 3-4% compared to Nigerian banks of 22-27%) or agricultural subsidy; fertilizer, machineries and so on. Third, here comes the issue of ambition. Every human being has ambition in one way or the other that he wants to achieve. The leadership will always try to facilitate (via legal means and formulation and executions of favorable policies) all possible means to help the citizens actualize the ambition that they desire. Generally speaking the essence of politics or political governance is to solve public problems. This means that by formulating laws, creation and initiating of policies and executing them in such a way that the nation be transformed to achieve progress; politically, economically and socially. Conclusively, as a citizen of Nigeria, observe your self (in term of political governability, economic viability and social standard) your family, your local government, your state and the country in general; how far have we gone in term of development/progress in the last five years of Jonathan administration? The answer is now with the reader of this write up to judge. Is President Jonathan political asset or liability in 2015? His party (PDP) could and should be trusted with Nigeria and Nigerians in 2015? How sweet or bitter is the transformation agenda in Nigeria? May God save Nigeria and Nigerians. Abbati Bako, psc
