JORDAN RALLY 2014 For imemdiate release April 28, 2014 RALLY FEVER GRIPS JORDAN Dead Sea, Jordan: Motorsport fever has taken hold of Amman as the Kingdom welcomes the region’s leading teams for this weekend’s international Jordan Rally, the third round of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship. With the event getting underway at a spectacular spectator evening from 4pm on Thursday in Abdali, the new downtown in Amman, teams have started the final preparations for what promises to be one of the top sporting and social events of the year. Early risers on Monday at the Service Park, located opposite the Crowne Plaza Jordan Dead Sea Resort & Spa, was the big delegation from Abu Dhabi with no less than six cars being prepared. Reigning Middle East driving champion and current championship leader Nasser Saleh Al Attiyah, of Qatar, is expected to arrive later Monday along with a host of other top drivers who will take on the 21-stage rally on Thursday evening, Friday and Saturday. “The final preparations are coming together nicely and we are looking forward to providing something special for teams and spectators alike,” said Khaled Zakaria, Chairman of the Organisers and Clerk of the Course. Thursday’s launch will start at 4pm when the top drivers will be introduced to the public through a Q&A session which will broadcasted live on both Radio Hala (Arabic) and Bliss 104.2 (English). Cars will then go over the start ramp before tackling a challenging 1.6km course in the shadows of the impressive new development. The event is completely free for spectators to attend. The Jordan Rally 2014 official partners are the Royal Automobile Club of Jordan, Jordan Olympic Committee, Greater Amman Municipality, Higher Council of Youth, Ministry of Public Works and Housing, Abdali, Abdali Boulevard and the Special Communications Commission. The official sponsors include Coca-Cola, Zain, Mada and Burn Energy Drink, with Radio Hala and Bliss 104.2 the official radio stations providing regular updates throughout this week as well as live coverage of the event from Thursday evening. The event headquarters will be based at the Crowne Plaza Jordan Dead Sea Resort & Spa which will also home a majority of the teams, media and event personnel.
