JSU Women Basketball Game against U of M tomorrow: Jackson State’s Women’s Basketball team will be playing the University of Memphis on Monday, November 18, 2013 at 7:00 PM. Please join us when we go to support our Lady Tigers. Tickets will cost $2.00 per person. Please email me at roshandapittman@msn or call me at (601) 953-3677 to let me know if you would like to purchase a ticket. If youre not able to attend the basketball game tomorrow, please come out to meet them at 7:00pm at the U of M Holiday Inn tonight at 7:00pm. JSU Memphis Alumni chapter would like to support all of our teams when they are in the city of Memphis. Wear your JSU gear tonight and at the game. The basketball team will attend church at World Overcomers at 11:00a.m today. They will eat around 1:30 after service and check into the hotel around 3:00pm. After they check in they will practice from 4:00 to 6:00 at the Field House on Memphiss Campus and will return to the Hotel around 6:30p.m. Lets welcome them with Memphis & JSU Love!!!! JSU Memphis Chapter Meeting JSU Memphis Alumni chapter meeting will be November 23, 2013 at the East Shelby Branch Library. The library is located at 7200 East Shelby Dr. (38125). The meeting will start promptly at 10:30am. I would love to see you there! If you have not paid your chapter dues please do so by going online jsumemphis.org, mail, or pay at the next event/meeting. Community Service: For our community service project we will coordinate a JSU Memphis Canned Food Drive for the Mid-South Food Bank. The Drive will run from November 23 – December 14, 2013, which is the last chapter meeting/Christmas brunch for 2013 (East Shelby Library - 10:30am). I’d like have some volunteers to lead the effort. Suggested Food Items are: - Canned meats, including tuna, stews, chicken and dumplings, chili, Spam, soups - Peanut butter - Canned fruits - Canned veggies - Canned fruit juice - Any non-perishable item, but no glass containers, please. It is also possible to give money as well as, or instead of, food. Checks should be made payable to Mid-South Food Bank. I encourage you to visit their web site: midsouthfoodbank.org. I’m asking each of you to contribute to this project. We LOVE JSU and the Memphis Community!! About the Mid-South Food Bank: Mid-South Food Bank is a not for-profit organization that serves more than 300 charitable feeding programs in 31 counties in west Tennessee, north Mississippi and east Arkansas. These agencies include food pantries, youth programs, soup kitchens, shelters, day care centers, residential programs, senior programs and rehabilitation programs. Mid-South Food Bank also has two childhood feeding programs: Kids Cafe and the Food for Kids Backpack Program. Food drives are important! Mid-South Food Bank distributes about one million pounds of food a month. Almost ten percent of that food comes from community food drives. We have 50 people that have signed up and 44 seats that has been paid for as of this morning. The pay pal hasnt been check this morning so Im not sure if anymore seats has been paid for this morning.
