JUNIOR GAME REVIEW - Under 14 Orange Round 2 took us on our 1st road trip to tackle East Sunbury. The players went into the game confident and that’s how we started off. We kicked the first 3 goals of the match but then we allowed East Sunbury to kick 3 unanswered goals and found ourselves a point down at qtr time. In the second qtr we hit back booting 2 goals 4 behinds and in front at half time by 9 points but unfortunately we lost Jack Berry for the game with a foot injury. In the 3rd qtr we seemed to lose our run and we let the opposition kick 4 goals to our 1 and found ourselves down by 11 points at the last break. Again we lost another player in Chris Blair who was playing well in the backline with another foot injury. Without a bench going into the last qtr was always going to be hard but the players did the best they can but were over run in the end to go down by 10 points in a gallant effort. Josh Mayes, Matt Silva & Mitchell Joyce were outstanding in the backline providing the team with hard running from defence, Luke Vella was magnificent running along the wing and Anthony Loiacono did not stop trying all day out of the mid field. Moving Anthony Franzone into the forward line at different times of the match was proving to be a concern for the opposition as he was a focal target for us in attack taking some strong marks with opportunities to score. Even though we lost, as always I am proud of the players and from a coaching staff point of view we learnt a lot and this will help us all in our preparation for our next game. I can assure you that the players are hungry to bounce back in our next match against Roxburgh Park in a week and a half. Go Bears!! Phil DeBono U/14 Orange
