JUNIOR GAME REVIEW - Under 16s We found ourselves playing at a unfamiliar location of Green Gully Reserve. Once again our first half was uncompetitive and our opposition were able to gain a match wining break by halftime. Our opposition Keilor were hungrier for the contest, and many of our players were second to the contest. At halftime we had a good chat about where we were going wrong and ways to correct the momentum. In Short the message was to go hard or go home, we demanded a much more intense and fighting in the second half effort. While the final scoreboard showed we lost the game, to the credit of the 20 players they really lifted the overall intensity and aggression towards the ball during the 3rd Quarter, and especially in the fourth quarter. We were able to control the game, play large chunks on our terms and take it on. Special Mentions to Gordon, Fabian, Ryan & Brae who showed their teammates the way in the second half. I think it showed the supporters and families watching, that when we lift our intensity and play hard, tough, uncompromising football we can be a challenge to any team. Most importantly for the second week running now, even though the scoreboard was not to our advantage we did not throw in the towel and proved they could be competitive at this level. The challenge now is to get the TEAM to play consistent football for 4 quarters, with a contribution from all squad players. With the return to fitness of the majority of the playing squad from round 3 onwards, the challenge is now for all players to step up and seize their opportunity. As we keep telling the boys , keep the faith, do the hard yards now, trust each other and you will get their just reward. Shaun Newell
