JUST TO BE CLEAR, when you see those crazy commercials where Rick Scott with Hair is taking the Fifth: In 1997,the FBI, IRS and the Department of Health and Human Services served search warrants at Columbia/HCA facilities (of which Rick Scott was CEO and had actually founded Columbia 1987 prior to it merging with HCA) at the time in TX and on dozens of doctors with suspected ties to the company. Following the raids, the Columbia/HCA board of directors forced Rick Scott to resign as chairman and CEO, with a settlement of $9.88 million and his shares of stock worth over $350 million. After much litigation (the famous depos of commercials) Columbia/HCA pled guilty to 14 felonies and agreed to reimburse the government (not just Medicare, but every government health agency was a target of Scotts policies) received settlements in excess of $2 billion. Settlement in this case does not mean they were not guilty. In this case, they agreed they were guilty of 14 of the felony charges and agreed to pay that settlement to pay back some of the money. They admitted systematically overcharging the government by claiming marketing costs as reimbursable, striking illegal deals with home care agencies, and filing false data about use of hospital space. Rick Scott was the policy maker directing criminal fraud against the US government. THATS why he was forced to resign and thats why he was repeatedly deposed and thats why he pled the Fifth, so as not to directly incriminate himself and thats why the board agreed to such an extreme settlement. So when you say hes not a criminal, you couldnt be more wrong. You might not give a flying crap, but Rick Scott is a criminal of the lowest order. Just so you know where I stand on the matter. And, no, I dont want one single comment on my page. NOT ONE. You can comment on your own page to heck and back about what a great business man he is and what a great job he is doing and feel free to block or defriend me. He is NOT a good businessman. He is a THIEF. He HATES the judicial system, and with good reason. Which is problematic. If I hear one more person tell me that he wasnt convicted, I am going to explode. If Columbia/HCA had fought any further, it would have ended with him in a stripedy suit, just like any other thug. They pled. They cut a deal. Their whole defense rested on Rick Scott being able to proclaim and prove his innocence in the matter. He couldnt. You dont hand the govt. $2 billion over if you can prove you didnt know anything about it. Stop it.
