The action takes place in two parts, from 1937-1946 and then 1952-1963. All actors should be able to portray the historical characters listed, though we are more interested in embodiment than impersonation. All performers must sing extremely well. Seeking: JOHN F. KENNEDY mid-to-late 30s, Caucasian male. The 35th President of the United States. Soaring tenor (to high A - but it sits up there) with great musicianship. JACQUELINE KENNEDY ONASSIS early 30s, Caucasian female. The first lady. Traditional leading lady sound, mezzo-ish. ROSE FITZGERALD KENNEDY 50s-60s. Mother to 9 children, including JFK. Mezzo, with great theatre voice. THE AMBASSADOR (JOSEPH P. KENNEDY) 50s-60s, male. American businessman, investor and government official. Strong-voiced baritone with vocal heft - must sing well and have a stately presence. HONEY FITZGERALD father to Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy and grandfather of JFK. Character singer. JOE KENNEDY, JR. and BOBBY KENNEDY 20s-30s, male. Baritone to G, strong musicianship. LYNDON B. JOHNSON/BULL CONNOR Versatile male character actors, 40s-50s. High baritone. MEDGER EVERS, FIDEL CASTRO AND OTHERS early-30s to mid-40s, African-American or Hispanic male. Character baritone to G, strong musician. ROSA PARKS AND OTHERS late 20s to early 30s, African-American female. Belter to C#. DEB AND OTHERS 20s, female, very pretty. Great versatile soprano with excellent musicianship - one belted high F.
