Jack, Vali, and I spent the afternoon in Washington trying to salvage whatever was left of the parents house of friends of ours. I dont know why, but I couldnt help think of pictures Ive seen of the Grand Canyon over the years. They are usually fantastic, but until you actually stand on the rim of the canyon and witness the panoramic view and splendor of the amazing scene it simply takes your breath away, and you realize how insignificant human beings are in comparison to the wonders of nature. Now for the opposite effect. Weve all seen the pictures of destruction from the tornadoes that hit central Illinois a week ago, but until youve witnessed the complete scenario and seen the devastation left behind, pictures on the news broadcasts just dont convey the true story of what transpired a week ago. Mother Nature vs. Humans. The human spirit will prevail overall, but these people need our help, and not just for the upcoming holidays because its going to take years to get back to their normal lives.
