Jackson County Emergency Management: Models have come into better - TopicsExpress

Jackson County Emergency Management: Models have come into better agreement with their handling of an area of low pressure moving across the region beginning early Friday Morning. The consensus track will bring heavier rain further northwest and over a larger area than previously expected. Widespread average rainfall totals will be around 3 inches with isolated locations receiving up to 6 inches. A Flood Watch is now in effect from early Friday morning through late Friday night. This event brings the potential for a significant river flooding event. Especially along rivers currently in flood. The Jackson County Emergency Management Office will continue to monitor forecasts and impacts over the next 72 hours. We will advise on any changes to the present forecast. Adding: The Chipola River is currently at 12.6 feet with the Action Stage at 14 feet. However, predictions from the NWS Tallahassee indicate that the Chipola River will rise to 16.2 feet by Sun at 2AM. Those living along the river should exercise caution as the forecast is subject to change based on the rain amount that may impact the river. Please remove all items that could be swept away with rising waters. Please all persons exercise caution along the rivers edge because of rising water. Also please be cognizant of animals and reptiles that may be displaced because of rising waters.
