Jagan Jacob, 36, who had worked in an IT company for over six years and now owns a coffee shop, is behind bars for allegedly misbehaving with a woman and her friend at an upscale pub in Koramangala. The techie - suspected to be drunk - allegedly punched both the woman and her friend on Friday at about 3.30 pm. Jacob, a resident of HSR Layout sector II, was picked up by the cops from Elongos Pub in Koramangala VII block. The victim, Aleena, is an employee of a private firm and a native of Dubai. The trouble began around 2:30 pm on Friday, when she and her friend, John, went to Elongos for lunch. The techie, who was seated at a table in a corner, she said, was staring at her continuously. She said he also made disapproving faces at her. Aleena reportedly confronted the techie, asking him, Is there a problem? Do you have any issues? An argument ensued, but John reportedly pulled Aleena away and the matter was presumed forgotten. The techie left his table for some time, only to return around 3:30 pm. This time, he approached Aleenas table and allegedly began yelling at her. Screaming that she should not talk too much and learn not to speak unnecessarily, Jacob then reportedly advanced menacingly. John intervened and asked the techie to leave. nudging him away. An enraged Jacob, is said to have punched John, who began bleeding from his nose. When Aleena tried to pull John and Jacob apart, the techie pushed her and punched her twice, a police officer said. We rushed to the pub and took Jacob into custody. He was booked for outraging the modesty of a woman (IPC 354) along with other sections, the officer added. (Names changed to protect identities)
