Jagan moves CBI court for bail......... HYDERABAD: A day after the CBI filed three chargesheets in the disproportionate assets case, YSR Congress chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, accused number one in the case, on Wednesday moved the trial court with a petition urging it to enlarge him on bail. The investigative agency, which has filed eight chargesheets so far in the case, is gearing up to file its final chargesheet within a few days from now. Citing the earlier order of the Supreme Court, which directed the CBI to complete its investigation within four months and file a chargesheet, Jagan said in his plea that the four-month deadline ended on September 8, and that he has become eligible to move the trial court with a fresh bail plea. The Kadapa MP mentioned in his plea that he has got nothing to do with the decisions taken by the authorities at the relevant time and that he was not associated with any of the processes in this regard. He also said that though the CBI is terming the investments made by Aurobindo, Trident and Hetero pharma companies as part of a quid pro quo arrangement in lieu of the benefits they received from the state of AP, the CBI chargesheets show that these pharma companies have got lesser benefits and invested more in his company. "The CBI chargesheet said the pharma companies derived a collective benefit of Rs 21 crore in the form of land allotments, but they invested more than Rs 29 crore in my companies. There is no correlation between both of them. Moreover, the AP Infrastructure Investment Corporation (APIIC) that allotted these assets to them has not cancelled them so far because all the pharma companies are reputed ones and the allotments were made by the state for bonafide purposes," the Kadapa MP said. Stating that he has been in jail for the last 15 months and that during the period, the probe agency could not show a single instance of his influencing the witnesses or his interfering in the process of either investigation or dispensation of justice, Jagan said in his bail petition. He also cited the ongoing agitation regarding the bifurcation of the state and said that it is his duty as a leader of a major political party in the state to be with the people at this stage. "I am prepared to abide by the conditions imposed by the court in this regard," he said.TOI
