Jalen, a member of New Mexico Rush, has recently suffered a stroke - TopicsExpress

Jalen, a member of New Mexico Rush, has recently suffered a stroke while out at the Far West Regional Tournament. Below is a personal note from his father. Its inspiration is that together, we can all support Jalen and bring more awareness to the signs of a stroke. Since that day our days havent been easy, some days seem longer than others with limited to no sleep in his hospital room. The activities that go on daily in the ICU from Doctors, RN’s etc.. checking on him regularly has been sometimes overwhelming and at times a bit nerve racking. His condition is now stable moving towards a Rehabilitation Phase. We have seen great progress with the interaction of his eyes also from the movements of his arms, fingers, legs & toes. Seeing that progress little by little each day has been amazing. My wife and I truly believe that our continued faith will bring him out through this making a full recovery, this has also kept us going during these difficult days. We know we still have a long way to go with his recovery and further surgeries to come but the support of the NM Rush Staff, his teammates & family, the local soccer community and hundreds even thousands of people praying for him throughout the U.S. has been such a blessing. As we wait on the exact cause(s) of Jalens stroke we continue to educate ourselves on the signs of Stroke. It seems that the only time people are made aware of the dangers of stroke is when a stroke shows up unannounced and uninvited. And by then it’s often too late. The bottom line is that more people need to know that a stroke can strike anyone, any age, anytime, anywhere. It doesnt matter who you are—we are all susceptible to a brain attack. Our personal goal following Jalens recovery will be to provide awareness and education to family and friends about the realities of stroke. And at some point Jalen can share his testimony with others inspiring and encouraging those that may have been effected by a stroke either directly or indirectly. Show your support and stay updated at Prayers for Jalen on Facebook.
