Jamaica currently lacks a modern network of a dual carriage of roads to connect the major towns of the country. Anyone knows that this is essential for a modern economy. When Eisenhower put forward the modern highway bill back in the 1950s for the United States of America it was done with the essential tool of a bond issue for public participation. We in Jamaica have progressed to the point where we are waiting on the Chinese to do what we should be doing for ourselves. So essentially we would have been better as British colonial possession like Turks and Cacaos of Cayman Islands. You do not see the British asking the Chinese to build any essential infrastructure. Who says that Jamaicans cannot build roads. It has become where the kickbacks from contracts are more important than the contracts. That is the essential problem. The pay of public officials are not sufficient anymore to insulate them from corruption. Pandering is the underlying Jamaican trait from top to bottom. No wonder an effort like Goat Island that cannot work is being put up for consideration. Anyone knows that what is required is a man made island off of Jackson bay that would have the required land and draft for the Post Super max coming out of The Nicaragua Canal
