WASHINGHTON, USA (CMC) – Jamaica has been named vice president of the Pan American Health Organisation (PAHO) Directing Council which ended a meeting here on Friday agreeing on a joint plan of action that seeks to reduce premature deaths due to non-communicable diseases (NCDs) by 25 per cent by the year 2025. The PAHO Directing Council meets yearly, except for every fifth year, when the Pan American Sanitary Conference meets instead, to set the organisation’s policies and priorities.
