Jamaica is recognizing the significance of World IP Day World IP Day was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2000 to raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact daily life, promote creativity and celebrate the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies across the globe. This year’s theme for World IP Day is “Movies, A Global Passion.” In recognition of this theme, WIPO looks behind the scenes to find out how IP rights shape the filmmaker’s journey from script to screen, how film producers attract investors, how screenwriters and actors earn a living, and how innovation is pushing the frontiers of creativity in the industry. When creativity is protected, local film industries and creative economies flourish! Check out Jamaica Gleaners article: jamaica-gleaner/gleaner/20140426/lead/lead1.html
