James 2:12-13 (ONM) (12) So you must continually speak, and so you must act as one going to be judged through the law of freedom. (13) For judgment without mercy is to be given for the one who does not do mercy: mercy, full of glad confidence, has no fear of judgment. [Editor’s note: Yes, the truly saved are forgiven, justified, sanctified and thus made righteous by the Work of Jesus and our faith therein. But (2 Cor 5:10) tells us: we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he has done, whether it be good or bad. Those in the first resurrection escape the judgment of the second death where both the soul and body are destroyed in hell. But we will all appear before the judgment seat of Christ. He has given us guidelines to understand how He will judge our works, for faith without works is dead (James 2:26). The judgements will be based upon the spiritual gifts given to us and our use of them as outlined in the parable of the talents (Matthew 25:14-30 & Luke 19:12-28) and on how well we follow the commands of Jesus. His commands were outlined by His 2 great commandments, the Beatitudes, His command of Go Ye into the world teaching the gospel, His life, and all His teaching throughout the gospels and the Word of God. The Word of God is full of all the information we need to know about how to live properly. If you think there is no way that you can possibly know and understand everything in the Word of God (the Bible) then at the very least follow these basic principles: The 2 Great Commandments of Jesus. First: loving God fully and second: loving our neighbor as ourselves. Matthew 5:7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. 1 Peter 4:8 Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins. Jesus, who can measure our abilities, our mercy and the love in our hearts toward others, will likely use our own actions in love, mercy, forgiveness, compassion and our desire to learn and walk in the pathway of God and Jesus TO MEASURE His decisions on our own level of placement as we enter into heaven and receive its rewards and positions. Remember the kingdom of God is run by the Holy Spirit much like an organization (as outlined in 1 Cor 12), with tools given to perform our tasks, and reviews of how we used those tools or possibly abused them. There will be promotions within the organization or possibly demotions. There will be rewards and bonuses for work, well done or possibly rewards that had been prepared for the worker will be given to someone else who proved to be more productive with the tools given them (As outlined in the parable of talents.) 1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.]
