James 4:13-17 Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. It can be easy to forget that God wants to be involved in our every day lives. Personally, I forget because I lose perspective. I get carried away and my focus shifts to money or self-worth. All of a sudden I’m making decisions and trying to accomplish so that I can do what I want to do…and live how I want to live. Being led by the Holy Spirit means that we are able to set aside our own will to follow Jesus. If I decide today that I want what God wants for my life, then I am one step closer to being able to respond to and embrace my future, whatever that may be, in a way that is honoring to God. He knows what is coming next whereas we do not. My prayer today is that we would walk in step with the Holy Spirit, recognizing the sovereignty of God every day. Seek FIRST His Kingdom...
