James Carter, poet, performer and musician, confided to an audience of schoolchildren on the opening day of Hay Festival that he didnt do much at school, except look out the window. I was always the kid who was distracted and looking at how the trees wobble, and at the moon - Look at the moon!. I felt a bit different to the others. I was a bit dreamy in my head, he told Dylan, a pupil at Clifford Primary School. So I tried writing stories, I wrote songs, and then I wrote poems and thought: Im home. And Dylan, does he write poems? Yes, I like snowy poems. The best type of poems are about gore, though. Everyone likes poems about gore.
